Thanks for checking out Clever Dood Productions! I'm Jason Little the producer here at Clever Dood Productions and my channel is about producing music at home from start to finish. I do product reviews, tutorials, and no click-bait BS. I don't do product placement or paid promotions, and every piece of hardware or software I review, I buy.
I get to the point as quick as possible to help people interested in making music at home regardless of budget.
My main recording tutorials are based on gear I own: Crush Percussion acoustic kit with Sabian B8X cymbals, an Alesis Strike Pro, Positive Grid Spark amp, Line 6 Amplifi TT, Yamaha THR 10II, Marshall 2204 head and cabinet, Focusrite Scarlette 18i20, Softube Console 1, and Rokit 6 studio monitors.

Alesis Nitro Max - Is this the perfect e-Kit for a small home studio?
Переглядів 4693 місяці тому
Alesis Nitro Max - Is this the perfect e-Kit for a small home studio? I used to have the Strike Pro and an acoustic kit. My primary use case is recording. I have decided to commit to recording via midi and needed something compact and fun enough to play on for recording. I don't go into details about the sounds in this module, but I give it a good walkthrough and specifically talk about whether...

Alesis Strata Prime - Thoughts from a former Strike Pro Owner - worth the upgrade? Kudos to Alesis for keeping this a secret, and boos to Alesis for likely the worst product announcement of all time. A couple of playing videos and no overviews?? Alesis just released the Strata Prime as their new flagship e-kit. I owned a Strike Pro for 4 years before selling it a few months back when we moved. ...

THR10ii update be like : 👉👈 U
Tell me why i started watching this on mute at first but when i turned it up your voice irl sounded exactly like what it sounded like in my head lmfao
Started well...
Beautiful guitar. I think I’ll be buying one of these rather than a Fender.
Hi. When I set it up via usb in reaper, i set the input to usb stereo 1+2. Fun thing is the ASIO4ALL crappy driver and control panel says the input is mono. It records in mono in repaer also. How can this mismatch be? there s clearly a stereo input in reaper, but the diver sees 1 mono input? What s happening here? Can someone explain this please? There s no way i can set up a stereo input in ASIO4ALL panel. Thank you
Awesome. I just discovered Sire. Amazing price for the value they bring! I'm waiting for the S10 SSS with the Ash body. It is going to be epic.
Even being $50 cheaper...the spark blows this away...and I own them both. The spark does so much more.
"the gibson, i looked at it so it's probably out of tune already" 💀💀
How does it compare to a 3rd and final generation American Standard with the Fat 50s pickups ?
Good question, I haven't played that so I wouldn't know. Sound-wise, I would image the Fender has an edge, but I thought the fit and finish and playability of the Sire was ahead of all of the Fenders I tried in the shop the day I got it.
That is the crappiest customer service. I’d be upset too. Hope you got this resolved
yeah, it did. Now they have separated the 'free' plugin from the SSL one so this shouldn't be a problem for anyone anymore.I think they charge $25 for it though.
Spark live offers phantom
I have the EXACT same guitar as well as a Tele in the same color. Great guitars and their prices ares damn good.
Last comment I really related to. Everytime I pick up different guitars(usually at guitar store) each one does take you to different places musically and opens you up to different ideas and approaches regarding the songwriting process. Strange but true.
YESSSSSSSSS boys! So awesome.
Thanks Mike. Much appreciated bro.
Hi chuck, nice song by:miguel
Thanks dude!
Exactly the video I was looking for ..thank you. 🥁😘👍
Glad it was useful!
So this doesn’t function as an effects unit just a controller for their vsts??
It’s a control surface for any DAW. The new version supports universal audio plug-ins as well but the one I have only supports about 70 of soft tubes console one plug-ins.
for 2024, which macbook pro would you suggest for the low buffer size recording ? I want to use keyscape and archetype guitar plugins and arturia v collection, with the lowest latency.
I would go out on a limb and say any new 2024 would be perfectly fine. Mine is almost 3 years old now and it’s still extremely fast and good enough.
Hi. I know this video is 4ys old but I can’t make it work. USB-b to USB-c cable to lightning adaptor. Help thanks.
It’s in stores in the Philippines
i would always choose yamaha over anything. however already having one and looking for additional amp with wider range (suitable for home use and small gigs) I believe spark positive grid LIVE along with THR10, and some tc electronics pedals will serve all my needs for a very long time as I'm not a pro. BTW yamaha pacifica 611 is a great asset as well.
I LOVE that guitar❤
The foam used in the Strike Pro looks to be the same was the DM10 mesh, and over time, it breaks down. Since there's so much foam in those drums, it's a big problem. I don't understand Why the SP kit has such thin drums. They have to provide a snare stand as regular snare stands may not be tall enough. Makes it look so much less.
Did you have the Strike Pro or the SE? I've got the SE and didn't have any of the quality problems - never used the rack because I preferred to have my shelled E-kit on proper stands - but agree the tube rack felt pretty light-duty. Sold it off cheap, right away. Lack of individual outs seems like a strange move, I love running my SE through the console to mix as needed (great for IEM mixing where the drummer wants more of everything and I want to lock in with Kick and Snare primarily) . Overall looks great (though shallow shells, don't show off that killer finish/look more like flat-pad kits...) but I'll probably stick with SE - has been crushing it for my needs!
I had the original strike. I upgraded my hi hats to VH-11’s. good idea using proper stands, I might do that when I get my next e-kit. I’m renting an Alesis Max right now to get some recording done.
Tune o matic bridge always needs a luthier to be set up
Why? They're very simple
I shopped for a while and finally completed the trifecta of the Sire L7FM, S7FM, and T7FMHH (Les Paul, Strat and Tele types). I love them all. They all have the same characteristics you mention, excellent fretwork, beautiful finish, etc. I've had zero quality control problems, nor did I feel the need to upgrade anything. I ordered them all from Sweetwater and they were perfect out of the box. The S7 and T7 tremolos were already set correctly for full floating capability, springs were properly adjusted and they stay in tune really well. The necks are so nice, satin finished on the back so they're super smooth and fast, and the rolled edges feel great on your hands. I have a lot of guitars of all kinds and the Sires hold their own with any of them, at any price. They aren't cheap, but they won't break the bank either. That's what Larry Carlton insisted on, and Sire delivered it.
Right on! I have the L7 that I’ve been trying to find time to do a good review on, but I love them both. Just need a tele…
Hey man, when going into the voice section on my module and fx - midi, it's not letting me customize the notes. They dont change when I hit different parts of the drum kit. it just stays on the one I had set which is 036 C1. Any tips?
I don’t have the strike anymore, but I think there is a “note chase” button on the module that you need to click.
I've heard lots of great reviews on this one and tuning stability IS a step up from overpriced and inconsistently built Gibsons! No setup necessary!
Would this Yamaha HR 10 II sound good with an epiphone les paul studio?
Hey! Just picked this up used for around USD450. Love your tones! What amp and settings are you using for the sound demos?
Softube Amp Room for them all. The signal chain is in the intro and I just increased the drive a little for the “gritty” samples.
I get annoyed when companies like iZotope purposely embed useful tools in bloated plugin suites for the sole purpose of profit. As both an audio engineer and podcaster, there is no way in hell I would part with $800 for 1 or 2 tools. "Oh but you'll find our other tools very useful! They're industry-standard!" I don't care, I'm not made of money. I can't believe I'm voting for a WAVES plugin ffs.
I like this but took me a while to get used to it . I’ve heard a few comments about the tightness and rigidity that meant it was difficult to really bond with it . I get what they are meaning the strings feel very rigid and feel a lot thicker than 10s for some reason , they were punishing my finger tips for the first few plays , first time I’ve felt this in 20 years . Perhaps puting 9s on it may help . Nonetheless it’s a solid guitar and I think I may grow to really like it
Exactly what I did with mine. I had no trouble with the original strings but chose to go with Ernie Ball Slinkies 9's which for me are much easier to bend and control.
thank you. idk how i would have figured this out otherwise.
You’re welcome!
hard pass on the Yamaha. It sounds like a butt.
Is it wrong that I heard Peter Griffin’s voice when I read that? 😸
Great review mate, loved the graphics to indicate which pick-ups you were switching between. Thanks for taking the time to share. Pity they are so hard to find in my local area. I’d love to have the opportunity to pick one up see how it feels and plays in person.
I bought the Roland TD-27KV2 several months ago & had to return it because it just sounded so terrible. Yes, the durability of Roland is fantastic but that doesn't matter when they sound like dirt. I know I could use VST's but I don't want to & shouldn't have to at $3500. I have no idea with as long as Roland has been creating Electronic Drum Sets, how they somehow don't yet have realistic sounding samples. Above all else, that is what these E-Drum manufacturers should have been focusing on first & foremost all this time. As most drummers looking into E-Drums are doing so because their acoustic kit is too loud & they can't practice as much as they would like. And all the zones & other features just don't matter if the samples sound like dirt. However, at the same time it doesn't matter how realistic the drums sound if the durability & reliability isn't there. Alesis has definitely taken a step in the right direction here. These are easily the most realistic sounding samples & best sounding kits I've heard from any module yet. Now if only this Strata Prime will prove a step up in durability & reliability, I might pull the trigger. But that's gonna take some time to find out as they only just released.
Amen to that! Scary how bad Roland samples are compared to the Strike/Prime and the Pearl Mimic.
Sounding good Ken!
THANK YOU!!!
You’re welcome!
Nicely done! 🌃🎶
Thanks!
The Strata Prime's module is littered with problems.. Idk if its the SSD they use or what but it fails for many many people right away.. Alesis is just not good... at all.
Hi thanks for the video. Can you compare it to the G&L Tribute Legacy HSS which is quite the same in terms of specs and price? Thanks
I love the bass playing! Great job
thanks very much!
Good one 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Yooo great cover!
Thanks!
I know this is an older video, but I've been lucky enough to get my hands on one of the new Spark Live amps, and the video function works great! The key is to use the spark amps usb c audio data output (for use as an audio interface), set your input levels, and hit record. The app will record from the gear you have connected, rather than the iPads built in mic. You can plug in monitor headphones too, so that the amp is silent and the mic doesn't pick up any of the background noise, and use it as you would any other audio interface. I'm new to positive grid and have just purchased the Live as an all an one interface for recording demo videos or audio alone, and so far, it has performed brilliantly! I don't know if the original Spark 40 had a usb out for use as an audio interface, but their newer products seem to have this function, which makes the video option make a lot more sense. Possibly a feature added with their upcoming products in mind, so maybe a bit ahead of its time, but from my limited time using it as of now, it's a great feature! I'm going to get properly stuck into it over the weekend and record some videos, so we'll see how that goes.....
cool, I'm playing live more so I thought of getting that too. There is a usb port and the Spark 40 will act as an audio interface, but other than the headphone jack, that's the only output unless you mod it with a line out.
Hi, does anyone know how to keep the Midi Thru Enabled permanently? Everytime I turn the moidule on and off Midi Thru reverts to the Off setting.
Great review!
Thanks!
You guys sing really good together..Enjoyed it.
Thanks!
Wish I could find a Champagne Gold one. Nowhere to be found.
Same
I found a Champagne Gold Metallic one in France. Global Audio Store had it for under $600 plus $89 shipping, and may have more! Pretty fast shipping too! It’s perfect and beautiful. Only thing I did do, which I’ve done on several $2000+ guitars, is took the spring out of the 6th string saddle, cut it in half and reinstalled it, to get it intonated. Neck perfect, great quality locking tuners. The quality that goes into this guitar is great, at any price!
Strata I Paid $3,250 at Kraft Music! The Strata is amazing compared to the Strike Pro in my opinion. Many more features and the kit sounds are off the hook!
